Dart volunteers scour Michigan park for trash

July 14, 2025

About 50 Dart Community Action Team (DCAT) volunteers helped beautify their community by fanning out across Moores Park in Lansing, MI, for a two-hour sweep of litter and debris.

Michigan Waterways Stewards, Dart’s partner in the effort, praised the “impressive” Dart turnout on social media, saying DCAT’s consistent participation in cleanups over the last three years has “solidified their position as our top volunteer organization.”

DCAT members not only collected trash but also removed large pieces of debris from the Grand River.

Cleanup events are part of an overall Dart sustainability strategy to invest in initiatives that make a true environmental impact in the communities where we do business.

Employees who participate in cleanups earn DCAT points and are eligible to win great prizes. This year, DCAT has a goal of logging 3,500 volunteer hours across Dart communities.

In addition to participating in organized litter cleanups, employees earn DCAT hours by:

  • Planting trees.
  • Volunteering at local recycling events or collection centers.
  • Hosting an EPS recycling event.
  • Picking up litter on their own
