Between creating circular lifespan packaging, inventive programs and more efficient processes, we’re not just reaching the industry standard. We’re always aiming to push it higher.

NEXT LIFE TAKE BACK PROGRAM
When people lack access to community recycling, this program gives them a way to easily recycle Dart® and SOLO® foodservice packaging. All they have to do is visit our website, purchase shipping labels at a discounted rate, then box up their recyclables and ship them back to us – and we’ll give them a brand-new life.
PROPLANET™ SEAL
We’re sealing the deal on sustainability. Products meeting our highest standards earn Dart’s ProPlanet™ Seal. While we design and develop all our products to deliver performance and sustainable Next Life™ options, our ProPlanet™ efforts are especially focused on:
- Designing products for composting and/or recycling
- Minimizing the use of virgin materials
- Using renewable materials and recycled content

DART COMMUNITY ACTION TEAM
The Dart Community Action Team (DCAT) consists of employees across North America who volunteer to improve their communities. While focused on litter mitigation, our DCAT groups support local recycling events and programs as well as tree plantings and other beautification projects. Since 2021, our dedicated employees have volunteered 7,011 hours to help clean up their communities and collected more than 31,700 pounds of trash and over 8,300 pounds of recyclables.
INDUSTRY ACTIVISM
We can’t change our industry alone, which is why we’re involved in 22 industry association committees and serve on the board of directors for six organizations. Read our Sustainability Report to learn more.

OPERATION CLEAN SWEEP BLUE
Operation Clean Sweep Blue is a voluntary program that challenges plastic resin handlers to achieve zero plastic resin loss. We're a proud part of this effort and have made it our goal to release zero plastic pellet, flake and powder during our manufacturing processes.

MARINE DEBRIS GRANTS
We never want to see debris on land become debris in water, which is why we’ve given $100,000 in grants to the Council of the Great Lakes Region’s Circular Great Lakes. With this grant funding, LittaTrap™ and other innovative devices are installed in community drainage systems to prevent litter, oil and sediment from entering our waterways. In 2023, 52 devices were installed in Michigan, Illinois and Ontario, each one protecting our water from pollutants.

FOAM RECYCLING
Dart operates and partners with over 100 free foam polystyrene collection programs across the US and Mexico. Since 1998, we've recycled more than 23 million pounds of post-consumer foam polystyrene. That’s more than 23,000 48-foot semi-trailers filled with loose foam!
